Wind developers take into consideration a number of factors when they decide where to pursue development of a new project. These factors include:  

• Wind resource and compatibility of land/area 

• Environmental impacts 

• Community input 

In general, the places most suitable to place wind projects have these features:  

1. Strong and consistent winds 

2. Large, open space, such as agricultural land 

3. Minimal risk to wildlife 

4. Community acceptance
